Are you leaving money on the table?

One of the early observations made by the behavioural economist Daniel Kahneman was that we suffer more from the fear of loss than we take pleasure from our gains and profits.

Today I want to highlight what you can do to avoid possible losses during the summer.

Summer is a notoriously slow season for many therapists, rightly dubbed the "summer slump".

For therapists who are financially and emotionally prepared for this time, summer offers the opportunity to recharge. For others, it's a stressful time filled with anxiety about smaller caseloads and leaner profits.

But resting and worrying are not the only ways to spend your summer. There's another scenario in which you can use this time productively, to grow your practice. You can use this time to:

• Focus on a different niche.
• Build new strategic partnerships.
• Lean into new marketing channels like email marketing or social media.
• Develop summer-related workshops and events.
• Learn new business skills.

In any case, you can use your summertime for business growth and I plan to dedicate the next few weeks to helping you do that.
